This year’s Pantone Colour of the Year is the vibrant and bold ‘Living Coral’, and we’re obsessed. Described as a coral hue with golden undertones, it’s sure to uplift any colour pallete.
Although coral has often been the main choice for Summer weddings, as a bright and floral feature; we think Living Coral is all about being used as a warmer shade in Spring and Autumn weddings; in many different ways. Some may be apprehensive about using this lively colour, but we’re here to change your perceptions!
Spring/Summer Colour Theming
- Crisp white
- Bold bohemian
In Spring/Summer, Living Coral would work perfectly with white and ivory, or a bold bohemian pallete. Below, is an image of it complimenting neutral and rose gold tones. This is a way of incorporating the colour in a big way, but using more of those golden undertones as Pantone describes. This look is both warm and romantic, and the perfect colour scheme for a Spring garden wedding.
Autumn/Winter Colour Theming
- Neutral/Autumnal colours
- Deep, warm and golden tones
Below is an image from a wedding we managed in 2016. You can see how we used a mixture of coral and other orange shades in the flower arrangements for an organic splash of colour, keeping things natural and subtle. This instantly brightened up the autumnal vibe, as apposed to more common darker and romantic pallets, that many couples opt for during this time of year.

The one piece of advice we would give, is to be creative but don’t overuse it. You don’t have to be too bold or go for the standard navy blue combination, to make it work. For contrast colours, why not try mauve, grey or plum.
We can’t wait to see more of Living Coral in weddings and events over the next year!
