If you’re in the process of cancelling plans for a special occasion that’s coming up, take some solace in the fact that you’re not alone. In fact, thousands of people up and down the country are receiving deposits back, informing friends and family of cancelled plans and rescheduling things for later in the year – date still TBC!
But just because we’ve found ourselves housebound and can’t have everyone in one place, that’s no excuse to forget the day altogether. With more free time than before, now is the perfect time to put the wheels in motion and plan the best day ever.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself, staring at the same four walls. Instead, channel your inner Mindy Weiss and celebrate your special occasions in style. Not only will this give you something to be excited about and keep you focused, it will also be a great way to bring your household together.
Millie Mackintosh, Zoe Sugg and Mariah Carey are just three celebrities who have celebrated at home during lockdown – and rightly so. But, how do you make the day special from home? Follow our simple steps to make your isolation party one to remember:
If you’re like us then your days will have been spent feeling a little less glam shall we say than normal – so what better excuse to get up, do your hair, make-up and put on a great outfit than a party? It might feel silly at first, but it’s guaranteed to make you feel great.
If you want to make your day even more unique, why not give your household a theme or specific colour to dress up in on the big day? Think pink, sparkly or animal print – there are endless possibilities for you to choose from – it is your day after all!
Do something different
- Create an itinerary of things you can do throughout the day that will make it different to just another day in lockdown. There are many activities to keep your day jam packed; quizzes, karaoke, or build a den for a movie night with your loved ones (your inner child wont regret it).
- Fridge full of special food and drink – overflowing fridge full of your favourite food and most importantly drinks! Not only do these two things determine a brilliant event but can be incorporated into the festivities too.
- Fancy your hand at cocktail making, or how about becoming a wine concierge for the evening or perhaps you have always fancied yourself as a bit of a chocolatier. Whatever it is, there are many fun and alternative ways to include food and drinks into your day of celebrations.
Invite your family & friends
When all said and done, parties aren’t quite the same without your family and friends there to celebrate with you, but you shouldn’t let the lockdown stop you from enjoying these special times with your nearest and dearest. There is an array of apps designed especially for multiple participants. Whether you video call, zoom or use the latest phenomenon – House Party.
Join in the fun
Just because we can’t go out doesn’t mean there aren’t lots of cool things we can get involved in. Bongo’s Bingo are still hosting their legendary parties every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while Sacha Lord has recently launched United We Stream, hosting a wealth of talent every single evening from live music to comedians – so why not make a pitcher of your favourite cocktail and join in the fun?
